I have read an article in Indian Express about your desire to establish world class University in Kashmir. Indeed, it is a great initiative that shall have far reaching positive impact on the learning processes of Kashmiri students. So far it has lacked direction from so many angles.
I have been closely watching the education scenario in the hilly states of India including Kashmir and I personally feel that we have not been able to make a required impact that education ordinarily aims at. I know the education system in state run Kashmir University and Kashmir Central University. They have been running in the conventional mode that hardly have any relevance in the contemporary context.
I have been interacting with the youth of Kashmir since 1980 when for the first time I had visited Sonamarg and Nagin lake for doing snow and water skiing courses and later trekking in the Liddar Valley . For last many years I have been involved with teaching of Kashmiri students who came to Punjab for doing different courses. I found them brilliant both in content and communication .
At the same time I also found them very low at aspiration level. Their way of looking forward was very limited. Even after becoming Engineers or holding MBA degrees they do not look beyond low level government jobs. They do not realize the massive potential that they possess in themselves.
Your initiative to establish an institution/university with difference will assist them in achieving what Kashmiri youth actually deserve. Kashmir needs a University/autonomous institution that can take the youth to thinking process of the contemporary business world and high on achievement motivation.
I myself have been trained in Harvard Business School and I shall not hesitate contributing in the academic delivery processes of your proposed university in the area of management.
I wish you all the best for your bold endeavor and am sure you shall come out with flying colors.
With all my best wishes and regards.
